MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR – Charles F McDevitt Youth Sports Complex Completion

This message was re-posted from the IN THE KNOW city weekly e-newsletter.

This Saturday, we will celebrate something special in our community, especially for young residents in West Boise – we’re cutting the ribbon on the new additions to Charles F. McDevitt Youth Sports Complex!

The city has turned 10 acres of undeveloped land into new opportunities for adventure, with a nature playground, bike trails, a pump track, basketball court and fenced dog park. New accessible pathways now make it even easier for people of all ages and abilities to get outside and enjoy this park.

These recreational enhancements are helping advance the recommendations that teens and parents shared as part of our community’s Youth Roadmap to expand opportunities for young people throughout Boise. Our Youth Roadmap makes sure that young Boiseans have a say in shaping our city – specifically to access places where they can play, build friendships, develop new skills and simply enjoy being a kid. And as Boise grows, we hold our commitment to making sure that every resident can walk to a park within ten minutes so they can enjoy these spaces that bring neighbors together and strengthen the connections that make a community feel like home.

These park improvements also honor Chuck McDevitt, whose legacy of supporting youth recreation and conservation continues to shape our city. We’ll celebrate that legacy at Saturday’s dedication, alongside members of his family, and unveil a permanent sign to be installed at the park recognizing his lasting contributions to Boise.

I hope you’ll join us this Saturday at 11 a.m. Bring the kids, and discover all the new ways to play, explore and enjoy this beautiful park. I can’t wait to see you there!

Be well, Boise.
